Ways to Save Energy

Use compact florescent light bulbs (LEDs)
Turn the lights off when leaving a room
Turn off computer, TV’s, radios, games etc. when not being used
Have a power strip set up for each entertainment and appliance area
Turn the power strips off when appliances aren’t being used
Turn down the thermostat in winter and up in summer (especially at night and when no one is home)
Use energy settings on appliances like refrigerator, dishwasher, washing machine, clothes dryer
Hang clothes outside to dry
Fix leaky faucets and toilets
Take 10 minute or less showers
(5 minutes is even better!)
Recycle paper, plastic, glass, magazines, newspaper, yard clippings
Compost kitchen waste for your garden
Walk, ride a bike, take a bus, or carpool to school/work.
Bring lunch in a reusable bag
